Ripping, tearing, removing, and hauling are all parts of the action that takes place when replacing your roof. Once our company arrives, it is game on and your home is now a work zone as we prepare for a roof replacement.
Roofing by Design goal is to make your roof replacement stress-free and ready to install. What we have done is come up with 5 ways you can help us make your roof replacement go as smooth as possible and as safe as possible once the shingles begin to fly.
How to prepare for a roof replacement
1. Think about the littles.
Loud noises may disturb sleep habits for kids and increase anxiety for our pets. Sure, it may be exciting to watch from a safe distance, work zone are extremely dangerous and unsafe for these little guys and gals. Talk with your kids about the certain areas of your home that are off-limits while your prepare for a roof replacement is being completed.
2. Relocate your cars.
Our roofers will need access to not just their tools, but to the hauling bin also. They will need a place to load shingles and falling debris. We want to keep your vehicles safe and know that the best solution is to allow us those premium parking spots.
3. Move grills and outdoor furniture
Relocating your outdoor furniture, grills, and potted plants may be best moved to a garage or storage shed. If you don’t have an area to store these items, you want to move them to an area that is a safe distance from the work zone.
4. Prune trees before the roof replacement begins.
In Tennessee, we have tons of trees. We get it. We also want our roofers to be allowed the safety needed when installing a roof. Any tree branches that hang low to the roof line will need to trimmed before our roofers can begin to work.
5. Let your neighbors know about your roof replacement.
We’ve all been there – waking up to the sounds of hammers and nails at 8am or trunks blocking our front yard views because our neighbor was having their roof replaced. Once you have your roof replacement scheduled, let your neighbors know what to expect. Give them a start to finish timeframe of the roof project. They would be so appreciative! This will give them an opportunity to prepare and make any adjustments to their situations so that they can be ready themselves.
Finally, know it is always best to discuss with us anything you would like to communicate throughout the roofing process. Ask for any other suggestions that would make the work go smoother for not just our crews, but your family too.
If anything else, remember this, that this inconvenience is only temporary and soon you will have a roof you can be proud of!
