How It Began
Michelle was 10 years old when she was on her first roof. She was given the responsibility of pulling the shingles apart and handing them to her father as he installed each piece. Her father instilled in her a quality of workmanship that carried down from his father. Roofing was in Michelle’s blood. She would later go off to college at Oral Roberts University to pursue her degree in Business Administration then back home in Southern California to work at a law firm in Santa Ana. A year had passed and off her parents went to Colorado to open up a Roofing Company in Denver. Her and her sister followed and for 10 years she helped them run a successful company becoming the premier tile roof installers in the Metro Denver area.
In 2004, Jose and Michelle took a step of faith and moved to Nashville to begin their own Roofing Company. With Jose’s knowledge and expertise of installing 1,000’s of squares of tile and slate roofs and Michelle’s knowledge of sales and business, they knew they had a winning combination.

Her and Jose take that advice with them and apply it to every roof Roofing by Design, Inc. installs. “We pride on our craftsmanship making sure that every roof is treated as a work of art”, Jose says. “We want every customer to be proud that they chose us to become their roofer. Treating each of them as long-term relationships”.
Since the beginning they have stayed true to what they do best, tile and slate roof installation. Yes, due to the economy they have made some diversification and do shingles also, but they still believe that no matter what roof product is used it’s the customer who is the winner.

On June 21, 2013, Michelle lost her dad from complications with Leukemia. Although he is gone, her and Jose’s passion is to keep the high-standards and integrity of each roof installed, customer service that exceeds the homeowners expectations, and the finest reputation in the roofing industry.
