Winter has arrived in Middle Tennessee and it seems as though the cold temps are here to stay, at least for a while. The other day, we went to Tractor Supply to purchase some extra heaters for the office. How many of us do that? The plan behind that is to generate as much heat as possible as quickly as possible.
So, it got me thinking about ways we can keep our homes warm and comfortable without burning a hole in our pocket. But, actually make some worth-while investments into our homes that can save us money on our heating bills.
- Invest in Reliable Windows. Personally, I am going to have to do this to our home. The draft you can feel coming through is bone-chilling. When that happens, you know the seal has worn thin in the winter.
- Invest in Insulated Siding. Just by doing this it will boost your home’s energy efficiency by 20%. James Hardie offers a great siding product that keeps heat in its place and reduces costs during the winter months.
- Invest in a Metal Roof. In the last two months, we have converted more shingle roofs to metal than I can ever remember. The message, a lot of us knowledge-based roofing companies that have been around a long time, is finally paying off. Metal regulates heat transfer and keeps it where you need it, in the home. Keeping heat in during the winter and out during the summer.
We promise if you invest in these three things this winter, you will see a significant cost difference.
