Why an Experienced Roofing Company matters
A few days ago we received a call from a homeowner in Memphis about a leak he was having with his tile roof. Two years ago we went to the same home and did another repair in a different location of the home. The home has a beautiful concrete Spanish tile on it and unfortunately whoever installed it used a lack of better word “cheap” underlayment
This time squirrels got in and were digging through the felt which was causing the roof to leak.
The homeowner made the comment that he “trusts no one else to his roof but us”. He recognizes there are several roofing companies in Memphis, TN to choose from and they may all say they have experience with tile roofing, but as a real estate broker he deals with a lot of homes, especially ones with tile and slate roofs in Memphis and he knows just like many homeowners to have it done correctly the first time is important.
Your roof protects one of the most expensive assets you will have in your lifetime and protects everything important to you inside of it. When you experience a roof leak or are building a new home with a tile roof, experience matters. Look for a roofing contractors that has been in business for years, have employees that look as their work as art, as well as references with past homeowners and builders.
Here is a scenario of what we see all the time, a roofing company that has been doing shingles decides to “go-into” tile roofing. That shingle roofer was either a sub-contractor of the roofing company or the builder. Which means the roofing company provided the material and contracted the work out to a small, sometimes uninsured, roofing labor crew, which doesn’t care about the end result, but only the paycheck that comes from how quick they can get the work done. The roofing company now decides that as quick as the “back-of-the truck” roofing crews have learned how to install shingles they see an opportunity to “figure-out” how to install tile.
The next thing that happens is we get a call to fix the roof that was installed incorrectly or finish what was started. Either two will cost you the homeowner LOTS of money!
Here are 3 Reasons to Contract with an Experienced Roofing Company
- Chances are good that they’ve seen it all. After years repairing, maintaining, and installing roofs of all kinds, shapes, and sizes, they have encountered nearly every obstacle and challenge. Your problem is no problem.
- They have answers. Years of experience when combined with good customer service means you can get advice, guidance, and information that is critical to managing your roofing asset and the associated expenses that come along with it.
- Less experience contractors might take short cuts; experienced contractors don’t. They are skilled at applying the most appropriate means and methods to produce quality work in a shorter duration.
In Memphis, we took off the tile where the leak was, replaced the underlayment with a better quality material, reinstalled the tile without any breakage (which someone with experience can only do) and drove off with a smile on our face as we went and had some barbecue before heading back to the office.
Experience does that!
